It also commemorates the foundation of Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh Ji on April 13, 1699. It is marked as the beginning of Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh had to continuously fight local chiefs and representatives of Mughals all the time, which demolarlized his people. On this day he called them Lions (Singh’s) and it instilled confidence in them. Jallianwala Bagh Massacre also happened on this day when thousands of peaceful protesters were killed by Dyer. Baisakhi is also celebrated as Sikh New Year. A special celebration of this festival is held in Talwandi Sabo and Golden Temple Amritsar.
