Vicky Tea Stall (Since-1945)

Vicky Tea stall sells its specially prepared Masala chai, across the streets of Amritsar and is counted amongst the oldest shops. His Masala chai has no set formula or method of preparation, and there are many variants of the tea. The caffeine content of most Masala Chai is around one-third that of coffee (if made with a black tea base). The tea leaves are put in boiling water, and kept long enough to extract a strong flavour while avoiding the release of harsh tannins. His Masala Chai might be regarded a class of tea rather than a single type of tea because of the wide number of potential variants. Water, tea leaves, milk, sugar, cardamom, black pepper, and ginger are the seven essential ingredients that are virtually always included in his Masala Chai. The western form of Chai, or Chai latte, is sweeter and lighter in flavour than the Indian version of a more herbal and spicy milk beverage which is available at his shop.
