Gurdwara Goindwal Sahib is an important pilgrimage site of Sikhs, which is 25 km from Amritsar. Third Sikh Guru, Guru Amardas Ji lived and preached in Goindwal for 33 years. It is also a place where Langar (Free Community Kitchen) was introduced, which over the decades has become an important part of the Sikh religion. An 84 step well called Baoli was constructed here and it is believed that those who will take a bath in the water of this well, and recite the hymn “Japji” Sahib, will attain salvation. The architecture of the Gurdwara with elaborative carvings on the wall and surroundings reflect the ancient Sikh history of the era. Truly one can vouch for a divine and celestial experience.
