On the backside of the Sanctum Sanctorum-Sri Darbar Sahib, there is a place named Har Ki Pauri-(Steps of God) where devotees bow down to have a hand full of Amrit (Nectar) from the Amrit Sarovar. The legend goes that when the excavation of the holy Amrit Sarovar, construction of Harmandir Sahib was going on, the Almighty God took part in this noble cause at this very pious place. Nonstop recitation (Akhand Path) of Gurbani of Guru Granth Sahib goes at Har Ki Pauri.
