Around the Amrit Sarovar-(holy pond), In the outer Parikarma (circumambulatory) of Sri Harmandir Sahib next to DukhBhanjani Beri is the place known as AthsathTirath. It is believed that any one taking a dip here with devotion will have the benefit of visiting 68-(Athsath) pilgrimage sites. The marble palanquin on the raised platform is the place where small pothis (manuscripts) of Gurbani were kept after they were obtained from the families of Guru Sahibs. These pothis (Holy Scriptures) were brought to Amritsar for compilation of Adi Granth (Sri Guru Granth) Sahib by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. It is also said that Guru Ramdass ji and Guru Arjun Dev ji used to sit here to supervise the digging work of holy sarovar and construction work of Sri Harmandir sahib.
