It is the 13th gate build by the British in addition to the 12 constructed during the Maharaja’s era. It is named after the Deputy Commissioner of that time CH Hall. After partition it was named as Gandhi Darwaza, but only for a short time. There used to be jail at the place which was changed to Gumtala after the foundation began.
