150 years old office of the Deputy Commissioner Amritsar was partly destroyed in a major fire outbreak on 4 November, 2015. With it was also destroyed the invaluable records pertaining to revenue and the pre-Partition era of India-Pakistan. The building was erected after the annexation of Punjab by the British in 1850s. It was the first building constructed by the colonial government in Amritsar. It was made in indo-gothic architectural style. However, after the fire the colonial wood work has been completely lost. In 2015, the World Bank team had visited this building and decided to convert it into a Museum.
