The city of Tarn Taran Sahib was established by the fifth Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Gurdwara Tarn Taran Sahib is situated in the city of Tarn Taran. This Gurdwara is known for the world’s largest Sarovar (Water Pond). The water in the pond is believed to possess medicinal qualities which can cure leprosy. Nau Nihal Singh, grandson of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, planned to build four towers around each corner of the sarovar, but could manage to build only one before he died.
