The Museum is located in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar. Jallianwala bagh is a memorial ground that commemorates those who lost their lives on April 13, 1919, when British General Dyer opened fire on the people. The Martyr's Gallery features several paintings including those of Jallianwala Bagh's political leaders and a painting of the interior showing many people dead on the ground. The extension to the Gurkha's image was painted in at a later date. Udham Singh's portrait is on display in the gallery and his ashes are housed in the Museum.
