Gurdwara Qila Lohgarh Sahib is situated in the old walled city of Amritsar inside the Lohgarh Gate area. After the martyrdom of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji at Lahore, Sri Guru Hargobind Ji became the sixth Guru of the Sikhs. He started raising the army of Saint Soldiers to fight against the Mughal oppression. Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji built a small fort called Lohgarh at this location, now known as Gurdwara Qila Lohgarh Sahib. According to the legendary history, tensions often erupted between group of Sikhs and Mughal hunting parties into mutual clashes. On Vaisaki day, a party of Shah Jahan’s troops were hunting in a royal private reserve near Gumtala village near Amritsar. At the same time some of the Guru's Sikhs happened to be there for the same purpose. A fierce battle was fought between the Mughals troops & Guru’s men, Guru Ji’s men came out victorious. In the memory of that historic incident, a beautiful Gurdwara Sahib has been constructed here.
