Gurdwara Ramsar is the sacred site of one of the five holy Sarovars (pool). Guru Arjun Dev Ji got five pools constructed in Amritsar. This is the site where Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji did the compilation work of Adi Granth. It is located near Chativind Gate in the city of Amritsar. After the completion of the Harmandir Sahib in the year 1601 A.D., the Guru chose this site, about 1km away from Sri Harmandir Sahib. Here, the Guru Ji started collecting the hymns of the first four Gurus, Guru Nanak, Guru Angad, Guru Amar Das and Guru Ram Das.Guru Arjan Dev Ji had a small tank dug. It was named Ramsar after his father Sri Guru Ram Das Ji. Ramsar Sarovar and a beautiful Gurdwara, called Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib is also located at the bank of Ramsar Sarovar.
